Nomura Tetsuya designed Yuna with hibiscus flowers as her name depicts. Her name also means “night” so her weapons are empowered by the moon. Yuna also has heterochromia, which explains her different colored eyes; her blue eye comes from her half-Spiran bloodline and her green eye comes from her half-Al Bhed bloodline.

Final Fantasy X: Yuna 05

17-year-old human summoner Yuna is the daughter of Spira's infamous High Summoner Braska, the man responsible for bringing a brief end to the destruction of Sin; The Calm. She has decided to follow in her father's footsteps to become a summoner herself. Yuna is expected to travel to temples across Spira to acquire all of the magical entities known as "aeons" and eventually summon the Final Aeon in a battle that will claim both its life and her own.

We can't see the cosplayer's face in this photo, which is a shame, really. It's still a great photo! Nice work!

Final Fantasy Versus XIII: Noctis Lucis Caelum

The "Sky of the Night Light", Noctis is the last Heir of the Caelum Dynasty and protects his city-state from those who seek the Crystals. The Crystals allow him to control his weapon by telekinesis, as they range from swords, to spears, to lances. He is said to be the first to break the mold of typical Final Fantasy protagonists' personalities, as he is idiosyncratic.

Beautiful cosplay! I've actually yet to play this game, or any of the Final Fantasy games for that matter, but I've always appreciated their art work. And it looks like the cosplayer put a lot of effort in the details of his sword too. Great job!

Final Fantasy VII Advent Children: Tifa Lockhart 02

Though she plays a more minor role in Advent Children than in Final Fantasy VII, Tifa did battle against Loz and later, against Bahamut SIN. She has shorter hair than her original character design mainly because animating long hair was proven to be quite difficult.

She looks like an older, more mature version of Rinoa to be honest. But I think a few people will get mad at me for saying that. Beautiful cosplay though! And the characters for the cosplayer’s name means “little fish”, Xiao Yu. Great cosplaying!

Final Fantasy VII Advent Children: Cloud Strife 04

In the recent Anime Festival Asia 2009 where Alodia and Ashley Gosiengfiao represented Team Philippines, a famous cosplayer was among the judges and gave the sisters full marks, even though they didn’t win.

That cosplayer is known as Kaname. I recently found out that he is also the same cosplayer behind the other Cloud Strife I featured more than a year ago.

You have to admit, Kaname makes a very convincing Cloud. If anyone happens to know where his website is, I’d love to link his images back to him. Thank you!

Final Fantasy X: Rikku 02

This is probably my last post for the year 2009, so lets make it... cute!

Rikku, the bilingual, 15-year-old Al Bhed, is a talented theif who is somewhat childish, but also very cheerful and optimistic. She loves her cousin Yuna dearly and wishes to stop her from going through with her pilgrimage. She also informs Tidus of Yuna's fate when she summons her Final Aeon.

So cute this Yuna! And intersting shoes I might add. I really like her outfit in X more than X-2. Awesome work!

Final Fantasy VII Advent Children: Yuffie Kisaragi 02

Prone to motion sickness and hopelessly obsessed with the collection of mana, Yuffie Kisaragi is the daughter of the leader of Wutai who wishes to return her country to its former glory, and not a mere tourist spot. In Advent Children, she helps Cloud and Tifa in the fight against Bahamut SIN. There is also a prequel novella "Case of Yuffie" which details about how Geostigma pread to Wutai and what Yuffie did to find a cure to help her people.

Final Fantasy VII: Yuffie Kisaragi 02

Aside from her original role in Final Fantasy VII, Yuffie has made several other cameo appearances in the game franchise. In the Dirge of Cerberus, she helped Vincent and aided the WRO in their fight against Deepground. She also encountered Zack in Crisis Core and enlisted him to help her find treasures in several of the game’s side missions.

I can say one thing, she’s pretty daring to be wearing Yuffie’s clothes during Winter Comiket. Thanks again to Somiya for sending this in!

Final Fantasy XIII: Éclair Farron aka Lightning

After the death of her parents, Éclair Farron discarded her birth name and chose to be known from then on as “Lightning” in order to escape her insecurities and vulnerabilities. She wanted to become a stronger person so that she could care for her younger sister, Serah. As a result, she is very serious, unforgiving, and relentless.

Final Fantasy VII Advent Children: Tifa Lockhart 03

Script writer Nojima Kazuhige describes Tifa to be "very much like any woman who's been left behind like a man", meaning someone who was hurt emotionally, but not clingy. She urges Cloud to come to terms with the unwarranted guilt he places upon himself, and takes care of Barret's adopted daughter, Marlene, as well as another child known as Denzel.

I think she may be the same Tifa as the cosplayer I featured more than 2 years ago, but I still find her pretty impressive. She still makes me think that she jumped right out of the film. Great cosplay!

Final Fantasy VII Advent Children: Tifa Lockhart 04

When Tifa accompanied Marlene to visit Aerith's church in Midgar, they get an unexpected visitor, Loz, who is in search of Jenova's remains. After his confrontation with Tifa, he receives instructions from his cell phone to capture Marlene, thinking she is one of the children infected with Geostigma, and take them to the Forgotten City. Tifa then joins Cloud to stop Kadaj, Yazoo, and Loz from reviving Sephiroth.

Mei Wai is certainly fit for the role of Tifa Lockhart. Wonderful job on Tifa's infamous battle pose! Thanks for sharing this with us!

Final Fantasy X-2: Yuna and Tidus

Two years after the events that occured in Final Fantasy X, Yuna becomes a prominently featured gunner who journeys to Spira to find the truth, and to see Tidus once again. Now 19, she is significantly more confident and outgoing, but also tends to be quite nostalgic. The fayth is her key to finding Tidus, who is the only one able to locate Tidus' scattered pyreflies and reform.

Final Fantasy VII Advent Children: Cloud Strife 05

At the end of Final Fantasy VII, Cloud did his best to try and live positively, but the sin he carried in his heart caused him to almost lose himself. Even though it was no one's fault to begin with, Cloud had to overcome this feeling of guilt on his own. In choosing to fight against Sephiroth once again, Cloud finally receives healing and forgiveness.

Beautiful cosplay! And it seems so much like Cloud to make a grab for the camera if someone were to take a picture of him. Thanks to Dominique for sending this in!

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII: Aerith Gainsborough

When Aerith Gainsborough was 15-years-old, she helped her adopted mother earn a living by growing and selling flowers. She first met Zack Fair during his stay in Midgar and the two began to develop a romantic relationship. Unfortunately, Zack was killed after being held in a Mako chamber for four years in the Shinra Mansion basement.

Final Fantasy XIII: Éclair Farron aka Lightning 02

A former Guardian Corps soldier, Lightning wields a gunblade called the Blazefire Saber, which is also known as the Blaze Edge in Japanese. It is a combination of a gun and a sword, one collapsing into the other. Lightning is known to be very agile, and uses acrobatic moves in battle.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII: Noctis Lucis Caelum 03

Noctis can wield different weapons ranging from swords, spears, lances, to guns. He controls them using telekinesis though the power of the Crystal for both attack and defense. Noctis also has the ability to teleport and move at high speed.

Final Fantasy X: Lulu 02

Born on the island of Besaid, Lulu is a stern and scathing young woman who is nonetheless caring towards others. She grew up with Wakka, Yuna, and Wakka’s younger brother, Chappu, with whom she had a romantic relationship with. Lulu was particularly harsh to Tidus when she first met him, but she gradually changed her opinion as the story progressed.

Normally, I wouldn’t even feature something like this on Cosplay Holic, but there’s something very sexy about this photo… I’m not particularly sure why, but I really love it! Thanks to Wins for sending this!

Final Fantasy XII: Van

A 17-year-old orphan who lost both his parents and his only brother Reks, Van is a cheerful and energetic boy who dreams of becoming a sky pirate in command of his own airship. As part of his “training”, he kills dire rats in the sewers of Rabanastre on a daily basis, earning him the nickname “Van Ratsbane”. He makes a living as Migelo’s assistant, running errands and at the same time, pick pocketing from Archadian soldiers, claiming to be taking back what is Dalmasca’s.

Beautifully detailed cosplay! It looks like the silver parts of the armor are made of heavy paper or cardboard. I wonder if the gauntlets are made of the same material? Thanks again to Syaza for the contribution!

Final Fantasy X: Tidus 02

The main protagonist of Final Fantasy X, Tidus is a rising Blitzball star player from Zanarkand. He was transported to the world of Spira after Sin attacked Zanarkand. There, he met the young summoner, Yuna who was set on a pilgrimage in an attempt to put an end to the very creature that attacked his homeland. Tidus joined Yuna and her guardians hoping that he would one day find his way home.

That water looks so calm that it’s almost… fake. I’m hoping that’s not salt water or it might ruin the costume! Thanks again to Syaza for the contribution!

Final Fantasy X-2: Yuna 07

Yuna's Songstress dressphere that she wore during the concert in Spira is actually made up of Lenne’s memories. This resulted in a sphere screen projecting the both of them singing to everyone in attendance. It was also due to these memories that Shuyin had mistaken Yuna for Lenne and that Yuna thought she had feelings for Shuyin.

She’s so cute! And I love this dress on Yuna, more than her original X-2 attire. Thanks again to Hannah for the photo!
